AAROGYA SETU
The Government of India has laid great emphasis on the installation of
Aarogya Setu Mobile Application and has made it mandatory for all sections of
the population following the resumption of certain essential services from the
20th of April 2020.
WHAT IS THE AAROGYA SETU APP
The Aarogya Setu is a Mobile App developed by the Ministry of
Electronics and IT to help citizens identify their risk of contracting the
COVID-19. It is designed to keep the user informed in case she/he has crossed
paths with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
HOW DOES IT WORK
The Aarogya Setu App which is a central government’s coronavirus
tracker app works on the basis of contact tracing and can help the user
identify possible Corona Virus “HOTSPOTS” around him/her area. It helps people
stay safe and adopt necessary precaution and prevent or stop community
transmission significantly.
WHY DO YOU NEED TO HAVE IT
Under the directions of the Central Government, in public interest has
mandated the installation of the AAROGYA SETU MOBILE APPLICATION for all the
State and also to all those who plan to enter the State after the possible
lifting of the lockdown (app should be downloaded 14 days prior to entering the
state). The State government has directed the returnees to be honest about
their travel history in the self declaration and after entering the state, they
are to undergo strict home quarantine for 14 days.
AAROGYA SETU MOBILE
APPLICATION is required for:
- Obtaining vehicle permits/E-Pass
- Officers and staff attending office for their designated roster
duties
- Public visiting government offices
- Officers and staff at the block level and all functionaries of the
Panchayati Raj
- COVID 19 frontline workers
- Teachers, students and the entire public in general Simply put, the
app is required for any public movement during and after the lockdown Contact
tracing is the way forward in the fight against COVID 19.
Similar mobile applications have been developed by other Nations as
well. The data is shared only with the government and the app doesn’t allow the
user’s name and number to be publicly disclosed.
